- My partner and I have (actually used to have) a 60' ponderosa pine
- tree near our cabin, located at 9,000' elevation in the Colorado
- Rockies. One day while we were away, lightning hit it. When we
- returned, it was now 7' high. Suprisingly enough there weren't any
- real obvious burn marks, it just appeared to have been dynamited.
-
- The force of the explosion was pretty great. We found relatively
- small pieces of wood 100 yards away and there was the equivalent
- of a 10' 2*4 rammed length wise THROUGH the wall of an out-house
- about 50' away (which would have probably really helped things along
- if anyone had been sitting it it :-)
