  33. My partner and I have (actually used to have) a 60' ponderosa pine
  34. tree near our cabin, located at 9,000' elevation in the Colorado 
  35. Rockies.  One day while we were away, lightning hit it.  When we
  36. returned, it was now 7' high.  Suprisingly enough there weren't any
  37. real obvious burn marks, it just appeared to have been dynamited.

  39. The force of the explosion was pretty great.  We found relatively
  40. small pieces of wood 100 yards away and there was the equivalent
  41. of a 10' 2*4 rammed length wise THROUGH the wall of an out-house
  42. about 50' away (which would have probably really helped things along
  43. if anyone had been sitting it it :-)
